Muscle Cramps

An involuntary and painful contraction of a voluntary muscle or group of muscles is known as a cramp.
Causes
Excessive exercise exceeding one's own capacity.
Indulgence in dry and rough food articles.
Exposure to cold, taking harmful medicines etc.
Herbal Medicines
Massage is the best treatment for relaxation of the contracted muscles. This can be done at home itself. It should be done by rubbing medicated oils on the affected muscles.
Garlic Oil: 10 to 15 Garlic cloves should be crushed and added to 50 ml of any cooking oil and boiled on slow fire till half of the oil remains, and filtered. This is-one- of the effective home remedies for massage and gives immediate relief.
Those who experience cramps frequently can even use homely gingelly oil and have a massage by themselves, before taking daily bath.
Ayurvedic Remedies
Available at Ayurvedic stores for this complaint is Simhanada Guggul - 2 tablets which should be taken twice a day with a glass of lukewarm water for 15 days. This will relieve cramps and prevent their recurrence. Maha Narayana Tailam is a very effective oil for external application.
Godanti Mishran - 1 pill three times a day.
Do's & Don'ts
Fruits should be taken.
Legs should be kept warm in cold seasons.
